MJ0301W21 is a 60gsm fragile paper on a 150 gsm coated paper Liner, built for Memjet-based inkjet presses and print engines. This page gives you the construction as we actually coat it, where it belongs, and what to pick instead when it does not.

A paper facestock is the default for the great majority of label work. It takes ink readily, die-cuts predictably and keeps the cost of the finished label down. What varies between paper grades is the surface: a cast-coated sheet gives a smooth, high-gloss print face, a woodfree sheet gives a more absorbent matte face, and a thermal topcoat gives a heat-sensitive imaging layer instead of a printable one.
Underneath it sits water-based permanent acrylic adhesive. The liner is a coated paper. It is a heavier, more forgiving release surface than a thin glassine, and it suits sheet work where the liner also has to carry the sheet through the press without curling.
This construction sits in the Memjet family, which we build for Memjet-based inkjet presses and print engines. The family grouping is not marketing shorthand — it is how the topcoat is chosen.

A water-based acrylic system is the default when the job does not call for anything exotic: it prints well, converts cleanly and keeps the odour profile low compared with solvent systems.
Where the printed label sits close to the consumer, or the converter runs a tight plant with limited extraction, a water-based adhesive is usually the easier conversation with the customer.
One adhesive system across a paper and a film facestock keeps a multi-SKU programme simple to specify, stock and convert.
Prolonged water contact sits outside the design envelope of a standard water-based acrylic.
Oil on the surface prevents the adhesive from wetting out; test before running production.
Paper facestock is not waterproof. Where the label meets water, condensation or a wash-down, a film facestock — or a laminate over the print — is the correct answer.
Memjet engines fire a very wide page-width array at high speed, which puts two demands on the facestock that other inkjet platforms do not: the coating has to dry fast enough that the print can be rewound immediately, and it has to be uniform across the full width, because a page-width head shows up any variation as a band rather than as a small defect.
Constructions in this family are coated and finished for that profile. If you are running a Memjet engine and the print looks weak, the conversation is usually about the topcoat rather than the film.
The Fragile paper series holds 1 constructions in our catalogue. They share the same facestock family, so the differences that matter are adhesive system and liner — and those two decide which jobs each code wins.

Buyers often ask the reverse question: the construction works, but the press changes. These are the codes in other families built on the same facestock type.
