UV0101W21 is a 140gsm semi-glossy cast coated paper on a 60gsm white glassine liner, built for UV inkjet presses (Durst, Domino, Xeikon, Handtop and similar). This page gives you the construction as we actually coat it, where it belongs, and what to pick instead when it does not.

A paper facestock is the default for the great majority of label work. It takes ink readily, die-cuts predictably and keeps the cost of the finished label down. What varies between paper grades is the surface: a cast-coated sheet gives a smooth, high-gloss print face, a woodfree sheet gives a more absorbent matte face, and a thermal topcoat gives a heat-sensitive imaging layer instead of a printable one.
Underneath it sits 23 +/- 3 mic — adhesive coat weight; system confirmed on the tds. The liner is a glassine — a supercalendered paper with a dense, closed surface. Glassine releases cleanly at high converting speeds, it is the cheapest liner that does the job, and it is the default for roll-fed work.
This construction sits in the UV Inkjet family, which we build for UV inkjet presses (Durst, Domino, Xeikon, Handtop and similar). The family grouping is not marketing shorthand — it is how the topcoat is chosen.

A permanent construction for ordinary labelling where the environment makes no special demand.
Batch, ingredient and logistics information on the outer pack.
Stock held by converters and resold against a specification rather than a single end use.
Confirm the adhesive system against your service conditions before specifying; the data sheet is the authority, not the catalogue line.
Paper facestock is not waterproof. Where the label meets water, condensation or a wash-down, a film facestock — or a laminate over the print — is the correct answer.
UV inkjet does not absorb into the facestock the way flexo or offset ink does, so the surface has to be engineered instead. Every construction in this family carries a receptive topcoat tuned to the pin cure and the droplet size of the engine: it wets the ink out evenly so the dots do not coalesce into mottle, it anchors the cured film so the print survives die-cutting and dispensing, and it controls gloss so that the white point stays consistent across a run.
This is also why we organise the catalogue by press family rather than by material. The same 36 mic white BOPP can be the right or the wrong product depending on which engine is printing it, and the difference is in the coating, not in the film.
The Semi-glossy Paper series holds 3 constructions in our catalogue. They share the same facestock family, so the differences that matter are adhesive system and liner — and those two decide which jobs each code wins.
| Code | Facestock | Adhesive | Liner |
|---|---|---|---|
| UV0101W21 | 140gsm semi-glossy cast coated paper | 23 +/- 3 mic — adhesive coat weight; system confirmed on the TDS | 60gsm white glassine liner |
| UV0105W21 | 80gsm UV Inkjet Semi- glossy Paper | Water-based acrylic adhesive | 60gsm glassine paper |
| UV0103W21 | 160gsm high-glossy cast coated paper | Hot-melt adhesive | 60gsm glassine white paper |
Buyers often ask the reverse question: the construction works, but the press changes. These are the codes in other families built on the same facestock type.
