What this construction is

BOPP is a biaxially oriented polypropylene film. Orienting it in both directions is what gives the film its stiffness and its dimensional stability, so a thin BOPP label still lies flat on the pack and still feeds reliably at line speed. It is waterproof, it does not tear the way paper does, and it accepts a topcoat that lets UV and water-based inks key to the surface instead of sitting on it.

Underneath it sits solvent acrylic adhesive. The liner is a glassine — a supercalendered paper with a dense, closed surface. Glassine releases cleanly at high converting speeds, it is the cheapest liner that does the job, and it is the default for roll-fed work.

This construction sits in the Flexo family, which we build for flexographic presses, in roll form. The family grouping is not marketing shorthand — it is how the topcoat is chosen.

Where it earns its place

Bottled drinks and wet environments

Beverage lines mean water, ice and wash-down. A solvent acrylic system is chosen where the label has to hold through that, on glass and on PET bottles alike.

Cosmetic and personal-care packs

Small containers handled constantly, often stored in humid bathrooms. Solvent acrylic gives the grab and the durability that small-format cosmetic labelling depends on.

Short-term outdoor and transport exposure

Where a label crosses a yard or sits on a pallet in the open for a few weeks, the solvent system is the more forgiving choice than a standard water-based one.

When to choose something else

Cost-first jobs

Solvent acrylic costs more than water-based. On a commodity label the premium buys nothing.

Low-odour-critical work

Where the adhesive odour has to be minimal, water-based is the easier specification.

Press set-up for non-absorbent stock

BOPP does not absorb ink the way paper does. The press needs its tension, heat and ink settings confirmed for film before the first production run.

How FL0206W21 sits inside the Self Adhesive PP Film series

The Self Adhesive PP Film series holds 8 constructions in our catalogue. They share the same facestock family, so the differences that matter are adhesive system and liner — and those two decide which jobs each code wins.

The same facestock on another press

Buyers often ask the reverse question: the construction works, but the press changes. These are the codes in other families built on the same facestock type.

Questions buyers ask before ordering

Answered from the construction data, not from a brochure.

What exactly is FL0206W21?
FL0206W21 is a BOPP film facestock — 100mic Glossy white BOPP film — coated with solvent acrylic adhesive and supplied on 60gsm white glassine liner. It belongs to the Flexo family, which we build for flexographic presses, in roll form.
Which printing process should I run it on?
The Flexo family is specified for flexographic presses, in roll form. If your press is not on that list, send us the model and we will tell you honestly whether this construction is the right one or whether another family fits better.
What is the minimum order and the lead time?
One thousand square metres is the standard minimum for a stock construction, in jumbo roll, slit roll or sheet form depending on the family. Stock items normally ship 15 to 25 days after order confirmation. A4 samples are free — you cover the courier only.
Can I get the technical data sheet before I commit?
Yes. The TDS for FL0206W21 lists the measured values for the actual production lot, and we send it with the samples. We deliberately do not print performance figures on the website: the number that matters is the one measured on the material you will receive, not a catalogue average.
